Congratulations to all our Year 11 pupils who have excelled in their GCSE and BTEC studies despite the extremely challenging situation caused by the pandemic.
We have all experienced an unprecedented period in our lives especially our Year 11 students who were deprived of the opportunity of completing their Key Stage 4 experience as normal. I must praise their commitment to complete as much work as possible prior to the lock-down and who have had to wait patiently for months for their results.
The grades awarded to our students are Centre Assessed Grades (CAG) which were awarded following a thorough and detailed assessment process involving initially the subject teacher, which was then followed by a departmental moderation process and finally a Leadership Team scrutiny of all grades awarded. This year’s performance is in alignment with the school’s previous years GCSE performance.
BTEC: In light of Pearson’s late decision to re-grade their BTEC qualifications, the grade that appears for BTEC courses may change in time. Unfortunately, the decision which was only announced late yesterday afternoon has not allowed us the opportunity of removing the current BTEC grades from our exam results system.
A big thank you to all the staff who have worked tirelessly throughout the year in ensuring that all our students were given every opportunity to succeed.
Congratulations to every student in Year 11 whatever their grades and I wish everyone well for the future as the next exciting chapter in their lives opens ahead of them.
